Working Farm
It is the intention
to continue the build up of a traditional organic working farm from
the 1930/1940's period, using part horses and part early machinery
to work this unique "Farm of the Elms" which is Treloan. This is
already starting to be a visitor attraction which will grow into
a many seasons' experience of sowing, harvesting, steam threshing,
feeding and caring for the animals etc.

Farming calendar & visitor participation
Visitors are
able to partake in the seasonal farming calendar. The calendar which includes ploughing and sowing with Shire horses in Spring, harvesting with them in early Summer, through to threshing the corn in the Autumn. As much as we can, and weather allows us to, we try to coincide the activities with school breaks to enable visitors to enjoy the experience of this working farm.
There is daily egg collecting, milking the Jersey cows, feeding the calves and Shire horses etc. We are very laid back and these activities may happen early morning or later in the evening - we are Arthur's Field after all!
On arrival visitors are asked to sign a disclaimer as to whether they would like to participate in these activities or not.

Shires are back
at Treloan Coastal Farm having arrived in August 2000 after more
than a quarter of a century's absence.
