Access
Trail
– After seven years of working towards a 2.5 km trail around areas
of the farm and the coastal path for those with access needs. The
dream of Victor and Dan Thomas has almost been realised. This has
been achieved with help from Cornwall Sustainable Tourism Project
(CoaST) and the support of the County Council.
Overflow
– We are applying once again for a temporary tent overflow
field d ue to the ever increasing popularity of the farm and the
camping site. Each year we turn away two hundred and fifty plus
families that we cannot accommodate without it. Fingers crossed
for 2006!!!!!
Dairy
– With the increased herd of Jersey milking cows we are
developing the existing dairy and the processes for which to produce
and sell our own butter, milk and maybe even ice cream and cheese.
To lead on from this we are planning to open a Natures Way shop
on-site which will sell produce of “Natures Way” origin (without
chemicals in production).
Treloans
moorings – We have a large area within the Percuil
estuary where our own tidal moorings are situated. It is becoming
very popular for our visitors to bring their boat with them when
they visit on holiday. They are only a twenty minute walk from the
farm. We currently have 10 laid and are able to take up to 60 boats.
We also now have two Ballerina sailing boats afloat and available
for trips.
Working
Horse/Pony & Small holding Courses - With the farm
working with traditional methods of the 1930's using horses and
machinery we are working towards providing courses in conjunction
with Duchy college to create a qualification, further to preserving
this way of farming. Working demo days will be held and hopefully
even competitions on our land.
Rainwater
conservation – Part of the work for this has already been
done and needs further grant funding to implement it fully. Sustainable
practices are becoming a way of life on ‘Arthurs Field' which enormous
help from CoaST. Please note our emblem to denote membership.
Horse
engine & bread oven – With the horses ploughing and
harvesting and the steam thresher threshing the corn, we are soon
going to need our old horse engine with which to stone-grind the
“ Natures Way ” wheat to make bread. This will be baked in the six
foot bread oven in the farm house. More produce for our visitors
to enjoy from the farm!! But this will take yet more time!!
