The adjacent
villages are Gerrans and Portscatho. The village of Gerrans,
dominated by the old Church is a 3 minute walk up the lane
and has a children's playground, general store, art materials
shop, post box and The Royal Standard Pub. The pub has a pool
table, take away and restaurant menu and will allow children
and pets (under supervision) into the pub and garden at all
times. The Roseland Garage is open daily, including Sundays,
for vehicle servicing, breakdowns, as well as supplying petrol,
diesel and the usual extras. Close to the farm is a large
car-park and adjacent squash club which is most convenient
for visitors.

Portscatho
(or Portscatha as it was called until recently) is an ancient
fishing village with a harbour and fisherman's chapel. The
village has a supermarket and paper shop open
from 7 'til late each evening, a butchers shop, two quality
art and craft galleries, a delicatessen that also sells children's
beach toys, a shoe shop and post office that also sells local
history books, toys and sweets. The boathouse restaurant,
under new management, provides restaurant meals and teas,
The Plume of Feathers pub has a good restaurant with a take-away
menu providing fish and chips etc. Portscatho Social Club
has visitor membership available. Once a member, drinks are
discounted club prices and you have access to the following
facilities: 2 bars and a balcony overlooking Portscatho beach,
a gym, Internet computer suite, pool table, games machines,
darts and MTV. Children under 12 are allowed in until 7 pm
Many local
villages have fun days throughout the year. Portscatho Regatta
and the Fun Day are always special events for visitors towards
the end of August. Many people have been participating for
generations.
Veryan - Carnival and Harvest Festival.
Tregony - Carnival, Sheep Dog Trials and a heavy Horse
Show.
Philleigh - Donkey Derby, Fete and Pig Roast.
St. Mawes - Regatta, Carnival, May Spring Festival
and numerous Gig Racing events (originally Pilot boats).
Falmouth - Yachting week and frequent national and
international yachting events such as the Tall Ships Race
etc.
